Unfortunately, Virgo as we knew it was not sustainable.
It was great, but a major reason to create Virgo4 is that the underlying hardware and software for Virgo was long out of date, and required more and more effort to keep it going.
Virgo 4 is running on the latest software and is cloud-based which both give us advantages over the previous system. The previous Virgo required regular patches without improvements, leading to inevitable total overhauls, frequent downtimes, and delays. Virgo4 is updated continuously, much like apps are updated.
The Virgo4 persistent features under user accounts allow you to save, organize, and share what you find in ways not possible in Virgo.
Virgo4 is also meant to work on more hardware and browsers, especially mobile.
We hoped to do switch to Virgo4 earlier in the year but COVID-19 closings pushed it back until the middle of summer.
