Q. I'm getting a message that my SPSS will expire soon. What do I do to extend the license?

Many of the Research Software packages have license files or authorization codes that expire yearly. Since only UVa-affiliated users can use our software, it ensures that people who leave the University can not use the software once they have left UVa. It is illegal for you to share license files or codes with people not currently affiliated with UVa.

The newest authorization codes for SPSS can be found on UVa Software soon. You can go and download the new authorization codes for your version of SPSS (V22 or V23, Windows or Mac, 32- or 64-bit OS) by going to the Your Account/Orders area in the upper right are of UVa Software. The codes are on your Order Summary in small red characters. Since you have the T & R version, you will get a 20 digit code. 

• Copy the code by cntr+C (Win) or cmd+C (Mac), or copy on paper
• Run the License Authorzation Wizard while connected to the Internet
• You will get an October 2016 expiration date for all the modules if you have successfully extended the license period
